A Journey That Became a Movement: we are Jota, Paula, John and Abid, Co-founders of Riverside.
After living in a country once marked by violence and navigating the storm of COVID while working in hospitality, Jota fell ill. Yet, he kept going—driven by the conviction that there were many others, like him, in need of healing, connection, and purpose. From this place of vulnerability and vision, Riverside was born.
What began as a small sanctuary in nature quickly became a ripple of inspiration. More and more travelers began seeking the same thing: a return to the wild, a space to work and grow, and a deeper way to live.
The dream didn’t stop in Jericó. As the movement grew, three more travelers joined Jota’s vision—committed to building Riverside wherever exotic paradises meet opportunity. Together, we’ve created a new way of living: working remotely while truly experiencing the world.
After seven years of living the experience, we realized Riverside wasn’t just a getaway—it was a way of life. A rhythm of working in nature, sharing meals with purpose, and embracing adventure, learning, and wellness as part of everyday living. It taught us that it’s possible to stay connected while slowing down, to grow while resting, and to explore the world without pressing pause on our responsibilities.

We dream of a world where travelers and local entrepreneurs come together to create more Riverside-style destinations—spaces where nature, comfort, and high-speed internet allow people to live, work, and grow from anywhere.
By expanding this model to more countries, we aim to give more people the chance to travel while staying connected, support local communities, and access life-changing experiences—from wellness and adventure to culture and learning.
Riverside was created by travelers, for travelers, and that spirit continues to guide us. We believe work and freedom can go hand in hand—and that we don’t have to wait for a vacation to start living fully.

At Riverside, our journey is deeply shaped by the spirit of the Colombian countryside. The resilience and wisdom of coffee growers, Indigenous communities, and rural families continue to inspire us. Their connection to the land and traditions reminds us of the beauty in simplicity and the strength in community.

PROGRAM
Many of our travelers choose to become volunteers, generously sharing their time, skills, and creativity with our growing community. From yoga teachers to designers, cooks, gardeners, artists, developers, and communicators—each person brings something unique and meaningful.
At Riverside, we don’t just welcome volunteers—we connect them. Our program extends across various destinations in Colombia, giving people the chance to contribute while exploring the diverse beauty of the country. Whether in the Andes, the Caribbean, the Pacific, or the Amazon, every volunteer plays a vital role in shaping the future of Riverside and the communities we serve.
